That appears to be the mark for 10K gold, or 41.6% pure gold alloyed with something else.

If you try acid testing it, rub a mark on a fine abrasive stone and put the acid on the mark rather than the ring. Jewelers normally have a kit with various strength acid to test for the different karat.
