It is a locally made medal or in this case a unit made medal and not a national award (like the commonly awarded Order of the Cloud and Banner).

It should weigh 26.8 g. It looks cast and make sure the reeding is constant and not over lapping. The details are lacking too especially on the junk boat. There are a lot of copies around.

I think to attach a white liner so the inside edge does not get dirty. I have seen a few pictures with it on parade frock coats, not sure if this tunic would have it.

The Chinese (CCP) did have Japanese weapons given to them by the Soviets after 1945 to help them out in the civil war.

Kanji is a term to describe the Chinese characters used in Japanese writing. Therefore, the Japanese use Kanji and the Chinese use Hanzi. Kanji should not describe the Chinese writing itself!
