Hi,

No red flags apparent to me from the pics provided. It appears to be a nice worn original from what I can see.

Sorry, but it looks to be a Floch from the 80s with a variant catch. The maker mark is alarm #1. The bent main pin at the hinge end is alarm #2 for these fakes.

Hi,

I don't know about the tute but the badge looks original, just pretty harshly cleaned with a nasty abrasive - ?steel wool?

Hi Marco,

I'd agree. The hardware is totally wrong but no repairs are apparent so imo a bad badge.

Hi Wayne,

I'll restrict my main comments to the marking, which to me is bogus, both in style and intent.

Re style, the font is huge. Much larger than the KMST DRGM stamped version (for which...

Hi Wayne,

Did you get a full pic of the reverse?

That sort of in your face marking on this type of cross (TR period at best) is a big red flag for me.

Mike

Sorry, the fakers screwed up the date on this fake, it should read 2004, not 1944.

My thoughts too Patrick - the badge, finish (I think the gilding is OK, but may be wrong) and top hook look OK but the rest of the hardware is not correct.

I think the cross is fine. The engraving looks OK as well. The date is 3 days after the war started. The assumption that this is his original award cross may be incorrect - it may have been an...

Hi Jeff,

Again, nice sets of bars!

I think the screwbacks may have a Sugarman logo.

I just can't make out the tiffany catch markings. I think you'll either need to post high res scans or...

Looks like an earlier Meybauer pin, which are pretty distinctive and as far as I know unique to Meybauer.

I believe that type of 65 mark has been shown on here before. I do not recall the outcome...

Hi Jeff,

I'm not all that familiar with US insignia but they all look like WW2 or earlier to me (not sure about the clutchback Gemsco faux bullion pair on the card though).

I really like 2 of...

Hi,

Yes, that is imo an AWS screwback. The small screw sometimes has the AWS logo stamped on it.

The case would be a "?" for me.

Hi Jordan,

I'd be running fast. Not a core from any genuine manufacturer I'm aware of. The hinge/pin look like they've been added recently (I'd guess replacing an obviously fake set-up). The...

From the obverse pic, yes, I believe so. Most of the detail (eg sword hilts, pebbling) is covered in a thick silver coating and there are brush strokes evident on the helmet.

I agree 100% with Hubert re the badge however, the box probably has a bit of value as I've seen army awards in similar patterned boxes.

Hi,

Given the stated provenance of the wound badge and the age/appearance of the obverse silver finish, I'd say it's a legit period field "upgrade" (probably due to a shortage of wound badges in...

Hi,

The detail looks pretty good so if it's a steel badge imo it's probably original. The hardware makes me think 20s or 30s though, possibly even TR period.

PAB experts should have a good chance of being able to type the tank to either a genuine or fake badge. If it's from a know post WW2 fake, then that tells you a lot about the authenticity of the...

HI,

As mentioned, it's a pretty poor casting.

It's not marked BSW, it's marked SBW, from memory standing for Sean Barry Wheske (sp) who made them in America.
