It certainly is a different set up and sloppy weld but this gun was cut up as contraband or an import after 1968 to the US. I guess the scope mount could have been done in Europe post war.

The MP44 is a little bit of a beast to shoot compare to the soft shooting MP40. Donít get me wrong if Iím in a trench on the eastern front in 1944 Iím going with the sturm. thumbsup

Nice piece...It’s been refinished i see some pitting on the shoulder stock and around the area where it attaches. Get some close up photos of those areas there are serial numbers on the arms too...

GEG (George E Goll) acceptance stamp is from the savage plant. Your gun was probably made in Aug of ‘42 AO made over 300k M1’s before switching to the A1 so your sn is on the lower end.
