Not sure why you think it is that old, but it is definitely bazaar work, for the tourist trade and not an issue piece. Hard to say from the picture but the older ones often have a handle which seems...

Yellow

I take it then, that the web address at the bottom of your original represents a vendor who does describe his medals accurately?

There were 310 Queen's South Africa Medals issued to HMS Terpsichore.
144 on those had the 'Cape Colony' and "South Africa 1901" bars. All were awarded for the period 9 March, 1901 - 31st May,...

I believe the rest of the cryptic marks on the card are internal numbers - file numbers and such like - for the people keeping the records and issuing the medals. I'd be glad to be wrong, however,...

I agree that it doesn't look right for an original, official issue, MID certificate but perhaps not an outright fake. I can easily imagine the owner, or a friend or relative, re-writing the original...

It looks like a British formation sign - possibly a brigade sign, as it doesn't appear in my one source on British WWII badges as a divisional sign. Perhaps a brigade of the 46th [North Midlands]...

Jerry

I have no problem with it as a Second War helmet, but the title of the post was "World War I Officer's Helmet?", to which I think the clear answer is 'No, not WWI." :)

Brecht

WWII names are not yet available from the National Library and Archives of Canada due, as you guessed, to privacy laws. Unless you can prove a family connection, the LAC will not release...

In that condition it must be either unissued or a reproduction/refurbished with a new liner. If it went to an officer who...
