It's not a field force number,wrong format. The largest number I'm aware of is 78124 allocated to 68 (EA) Field Battery EAA.

This may work.

Try putting the neg on a light table on copy stand, make a mask to go around the plate. Photograph it, you'll get a negative image but that's easily fixed.

The attribution of the rank of WLS -Bereitschaftsfuhrer to this collar tab was an "educated guess" by David Littlejohn in "Defending the Reich".

The ranks used by the Führergruppe in about 1940...

The only attribution I know is the same as your photo: K Troop, 2nd Cavalry. It may be the sign of K Troop or of those detachments of 2nd Cavalry that served with 2nd Army.

It's a horse's head on a wheel. There are other photos out there; most show the patch over that of 2nd Army.

The footage is from 22 June 1965 and was shot near the Continental Palace hotel, the occasion was International Aid Day.

I've never seen any documents that identifies the users of the Greyhounds. But I believe they were hand me downs from the ARVN; photos show the yellow licence plate rather than a white on black one. ...
