Thanks and details

Thanks for the I.D. Napoleon...
Here are some details of this man.
Count Gottlieb von Haeseler
PLM recipient of 1873 for services in 1870-71.
Rank of Field Marshal in First World War.
He served basically forever, including 1864 war with Denmark, 1866 Austrian-Prussian conflict, 1870-71 Franco-Prussian, and 1914-15 campaigns in First World War *(Awarded Oak leaves to PLM).
His face alone tells the story.

"Old Haeseler"

Generalfeldmarschall Gottlieb Ferdinand Graf von Haeseler, known as "der alte Haeseler" was born on the 19th of January 1836 and died on the 26th of October 1919.

He was the first and long time commander of the XVI Army Corps at Metz from the 24th of March 1890 until he retired in May 1903. Invariably photographed in his uniform as the Chief of Ulanen-Regiment Graf Haeseler (2.Brandenburgisches) Nr. 11, he was promoted to Generalfeldmarschall on the 1st of May 1905. He was the senior GFM on the Prussian Army list at the outbreak of war. The 78 old accompanied his former corps into the field in 1914 as an "observer" and with his orderly officer captured a French soldier at Nantillois on the 3rd of September 1914!

Regards
Glenn
