Interesting lid, however very likely a postwar French/Belgian Painted Helmet for soldiers or tourists.

Well, whatever it is...it sold

Crazy price as well. I agree it was not likely to be a WWI era camo job.

Hans K. 04-29-2019 09:42 PM

Nothing wrong with the camo or the price. Anyway, it's found a new home.

Too bad I wasnít in time to pull the trigger.

Educate me; what makes it postwar? Thanks.

The colours are all wrong as are the dividing lines.

These where painted by French and Belgian peddlers immediately after WW1 and into the 1920’s for Soldiers to take home and for battlefield tourists.

There are actually collectors for these, an interesting helmet just not actually wartime Painted.

Worth around $500 to one of these collectors.

A nice helmet period done French? German? who knows but definitely of the time period. Would look good among other camos. Let me know if you see one the same with liner for $500. Rob

Definitely not WW1 German colors. Thanks for the info on where this one came from.
