I thought we should start a thread on matching K98k bayonets. Please add what you have. Here are a few of my favorites. I like the late war ones.

A 44asw with wooden grips.

And my favorite of the 44s is this 44fnj with blued bayonet and phosphated scabbard.

And for a little comparision for pre-war vs late war, a superb quality 1938 made by Gebruder Heller. The quality of the bluing and bakelite is superb.

Nothing special here in comparison to Willi's bayonetsthumbsup, but anyway as a non-"weapon" collector, I've got a few...here you go.

starting from above, matching, serialnbr: 1547 f, dated 44, maker : cvl. Frog is unmarked but original to the bayonet.

the middle one is mismatched, although I got it like that from a resistance-veteran in my area. Nbr 5107 g and scabbard nbr 1010, maker : WKC. original marked frog.

The third one is matching also, nbrs : 4580 a, maker : J.Sch. + it's original unmarked frog.

All have wooden grips.

Cheers

Jan

Only pic of them all together, all matching from the years 1936-1944. Thanks for looking:)

Willi Z. 04-25-2005 09:22 PM

Very nice Joe, Jan, Mike and Manny! Mike, I too like the way those photos came out.

Martin, yours has me baffled. No other markings?

Frentebro 04-25-2005 11:48 PM

I would suspect the K9 is a foreign rework mark - maybe Yugo? They sterilized many of these bayos, other countries also reworked them.

Bill,

That is an interesting S84/98. I have not seen one with the WaA on the blade in this manner before either. The same WaA as on the pommel and scabbard ball?
