Hi
here are some pics of an Admiralty Pattern battledress trousers.
Please what do you think about?
Are they a correct WWII navy pattern?
Could they have been issued to the royal marines?
What is the meaning of that "X" and "1 DC 1/42 AV" markings?
Many thanks
Marco

Ciao Marco my friend ...the trousers look good & original ...i would think but not 100% sure that the large X is for No 10 Commando !?...the A.V. stamp is clothing treated for Anti Gas !...Ed

10 inter Allied commando was a army unit so had nothing to do with navy,.... Royal Marines had their own battle dresses but these are written with the text Royal Marines and not with adminirality

Thank you Ed, it's always a pleasure to hear from you, but I think what 48RMC says is correct, 10 Commando was an Army unit.

Many thanks 48RMC, as you said correctly I have seen in the past a Royal Marines BD blouse and it had a Label marked "ROYAL MARINES BATTLEDRESS", like the picture attached. I also know that many of them used the normal army BD.

So what kind of label is that on these trousers? Is it original?

Marco

Ciao Marco ...no not problem !..as i said i was'nt absolutly sure about the X stamp !?...they were indeed a Army unit but worked with the navy in Combined Ops so it was just a hunch Marco ...regards Ed...:)
