Default Found a German Helmet, info please!

I see, under paint, what looks like a name, perhaps a previous owner???
I see two numbers; 4317 and ET66. Any feedback welcomed. Thanks.

I think the man was promoted! Under the paint it looks like his previous rank of Uffz. And his name.

What does uffz mean? I tried online translation and it wouldn't translate. Thanks.

Unteroffizier, it’s a rank equivalent to about a sergeant or NCO

In regards to the liner it looks to be moldy and the top layer is coming off. You should spray some anti-mold onto a cloth and then gently whipe the leather. Don't spray it onto the helmet

Nice helmet. Diluted applecider vinegar and a soft cloth will also help with the mold. J

I would attack the mould first with hot water before using anything more agressive.
In most cases it will do the trick.
The leather looks fragile so take that into account so you do not tear it further.

It looks like a very fine helmet. Dont do anything too aggressive with the leather.

Nice helmet... I like the rank progression, don't see that very often.

I completely agree - it's a really nice helmet that currently looks as if no one has messed with it. It needs to retain that originality with only a very light touch to prevent any deterioration.
