Looking at the black in the recesses, I'm leaning more towards a stripped and polished Black grade. If you can advise whether there is actually any gold finish present, rather than just basemetal, that would certainly help the evaluation.

Regards
Mike

IMO a black grade which has lost all of its finish.
If it would be a gold WB it would have had a much brighter gold finish.

Kind regards,

AW

Thank you very much, AW and Mike, for your comments and expertise. After looking more carefully on the obvers of the badge I noticed the evident spots of the black paint. Therefore it is (or was) Wound Badge in Black.
This proves that not everything that shines is gold....

Best regards,
Klaus

Gold 1st Pattern

Hello,
I agree it’s a polished black WB. This is what a real gold 1st pattern looks like.
Note the fire gilt finish.
Regards,
Jody
