Default Imperial Schickle variation

This simple Imperial Schickle BWB made my day since it has the typical Type 2 hardware

Hi Hans,
That is really cool, at least to a WB novice like me. I guess these with Type 2 hardware are hard to find?

Hi Dale,

Don't know if I can call it hard to find i just happened to stumbled upon it. I had no intentions to collect variations before but this is something i recently started to do in general.

Hans,
Well I guess you've opened up Pandora's box now. In my experience, trying to collect all of the variations of anything from the TR or Imperial era usually leaves a man broke, divorced, friendless (except for fellow addicts) and living in a dwelling with little space for anything other than the collection!

On a serious note, and maybe a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway, does the exact same hardware mean that the Imperial badge was manufactured during the same time period as the TR one, and if so, are the Imperial ones ever found with Schickle markings?

Dale,

yes i think that the same hardware indicates that the Imperial and the TR versions where manufactured during the same period.

Finding unmarked Schickle stuff is not that hard butr it is another ball game to find makermarked Schickle awards. I have so far only seen one makermarked Imperial WB from Schickle once owned by a german collector and later was sold at Militaria Berlin.

Thanks for the explanation and pictures, Hans. I'll be keeping my eyes open for one of those now - one can always hope.
