Default Silver 30 with Packet

Hello All,

This is a new 30 I picked up... I believe the medal is good but I have no idea on the packet? If there is any guidance on this it would be appreciated.

I know a 30 is Vienna Mint but it doesn't seem to read that way on the packet?

Thank you!
Scott

Hi Scott,

Others will have to speak for the packet (which is for a "100" marked WB, not a 30), but from the hardware the badge appears to be a cast repro. The hinge is totally wrong and you can see the oval shape where the original catch was ground off (the ground area has finish on it - so the badge was finished AFTER the catch was ground off - ie the fakers ground off the catch of an original, cast the badge, and either applied finish then bogus hardware or hardware and then finish).

Regards
Mike

Hi Scott,

The packet is original and like Mike said for a #100 marked badge. #100 = Wächtler und Lange.

Regards, Thomas

Hi Scott,

Sorry, but I have to agree with the others. The '30' marked Wound Badge is not original and does appear to be a cast fake. The packet, however, is a nice original for a Rudolf Wächtler & Lange Silver Wound Badge.

Best regards,
Tom

Hi again Scott,

Here is an original zinc '30' for comparison. You can see that the detail on the front is much more crisp on the original. When looking at the reverse, the edges of the original are sharp whereas they have a very soft look on your badge. Also, the hinge, catch, and pin on your badge do not conform to the originals. I don't believe we can say that your badge is a repaired original either. It's overall appearance negates that possibility. And I have a feeling that your badge will measure smaller than an original by .5mm in height and width. That would confirm that the badge in question is a cast fake.

Best regards,
Tom

I agree with the gentlemen before me. The badge is a cast fake and the packet is original
